The software company has been around in the UK for a number of years and when you go to the website you can see where last year they were the winner of the Public Sector contest for Microsoft Partner of the Year for 2010. McKesson uses Microsoft technologies as well so perhaps a way to expand into markets outside the US. McKesson like many others in Health IT are expanding via acquisitions. Recently we had this announcement with the government systems and I’m not quite sure what route is being taken here since both entities already have Health IT systems, but I suppose we will hear more in time.

McKesson Corp. will acquire British hospital software vendor System C Healthcare for about $141.5 million in U.S. dollars.
System C serves about 40 hospitals in the National Health Service. Its Medway product line includes a core hospital and ambulatory clinical information system and multiple modules supporting emergency care, maternity, diabetic care, ambulance care, infection control, and data analytics, among other functions.
